I found this one just a few nights ago, and I loved it instantly. It’s www.game-ism.com, and it’s awesome. It’s an example of what a blogger should really attempt to be. His posts are the right length, well thought out, and give you the sense that he’s really put time into this. Example: TF2 vs. Vanilla FPS. Not only does he give us a full post, he provides diagrams to support his theories. His posts are very much devoted into looking deeper into games. Not just their mechanics, but also their story line, and the symbolism in the games. They’re long posts, but they’re entertaining posts.
Example. He knows he overanalyzed, but both him and his audience don’t care. Why? Because that’s the fun of the post. It takes apart the song by someone who knows a lot about the game, not someone who’s never played it but graduated with honors from Oxford after finishing a doctoral study on the combination of story and song. While the person who has a doctorate might be more knowledgeable in symbolism and general story, he probably won’t know as much about the characters and story of the game. But anyways, the blog is great. Check it out, guys.

Now, people have advised to get the Xbox 360, at least for someone who has one. But why? Because of the downloadable content. I am currently playing the game on my PS3. Why? Because that way I could get it as soon as possible. The reason I don’t really care about not having the downloadable content is the fact that there’s already so much content in the game. It’s fairly likely that I won’t finish the game for quite awhile, maybe even a year or so, and by that time, there will be another game to take it’s place. However, there is one downside of getting it for PS3 (personally). System updates. Some reason Sony has decided to make all of the updates for the PS3 force you to go into the system menu and download some huge ass file and install it. Though this isn’t really Rockstar’s fault, it still sucks that I have to take like, 10 minutes to update my PS3, and when you’re waiting to play GTA IV Multiplayer, those 10 minutes seem like an hour. The only reason to have the PS3 instead is the fact that the load times are a faster, often almost instantaneous is what I found. I have to say, though, I don’t think it’s possible for this game not to be enjoyable, I mean, this is probably Game of The Year material, and we’re less than half way through 2008. Alright, I’ve got to go, Roman is calling me…

Well, this title could mean a lot, and quite possibly was in an episode of Star Trek, but it’s not what you think. As some of you may know, I recently bought two games, Rock Band and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I also, as some of you may know, have become completely addicted to these games. In fact, for the next few days I probably won’t even be online a lot during the day, because I’ll be playing them.
It’s a 5/5 for both of them, and I think you know why. For Rock Band it’s the team play, and darn it, it’s just so gosh darn fun! For Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it’s the multiplayer, and…Darn it, it’s just so gosh darn fun! For some games, there isn’t exactly a way to explain how it feels, it just IS fun. And sometimes you JUST about have your finger on it, and then the game slaps your hand and tells you “Hah! You’ll never find out the secret spice mixture that makes this game so fantastic!” Exactly, Mr. Italicy (get it?), well, except for the spice mixture part, but good effort!
Anyways, both these games are sure to keep you going for days, Rock Band goes for $179.99 at Best Buy (funny, for once it actually is the best buy) and Super Smash Bros. Brawl goes for 49.99 (Amazon.ca) Note - All prices are in Canadian Dollars.
PS - 3 (Get it?) But by the way, right before I begun writing this posts, I was actually playing Rock band and Super Smash Bros. Brawl…I know, I REALLY need to quit…Well, anyways I’m going to make no effort at quitting and play some more right now…

Okay, just to get things clear, this post is not on a drug, it’s on something much, much worse. It’s on a game. That game, is Army of Two, and luckily I’ve been able to pull myself off of it for long enough to write this post. It’s an amazing game. Four out of Five. Why? Well, it’s got beautiful graphics, runs extremely smoothly, and it’s gameplay is some of the best I’ve seen in awhile. But why isn’t it Five out of Five? Well, it’s not SUPER original. It’s basic game mechanics come across as Gears of War with teamwork, upgrading and buying of new weapons, and a setting in the real world. However, there is one “bug”; One core problem is that in order to continue to the next area, you must first kill all of the enemies in the existing area. I still love it though…Must…Fight…Urge…To play…Agh! Can’t fight it. See you guys later, I’ve got some gaming to do!

Yes, that’s right, a few days ago Sony announced that they would be releasing the DualShock 3 controller (which includes rumble, a feature the SIXAXIS didn’t have) for the PlayStation 3 in April at the price of $55 USD. That’s $5 more than the old controller, and still retains the existing SIXAXIS technology, which enables motion sensitive controls. In general Sony seems to be dong well, with the Blu-Ray victory and games like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Metal Gear Solid 4 coming up, Microsoft and Nintendo might actually worry about losing sales this year. We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we? Source: Sony’s Press Release on the subject

Well, Creative Zen dropped the price of their 8 GB music player to $150, the same price as the 4 GB iPod Nano, yet which one should you get? Pretty obvious choice here, the Zen has a bigger screen, more memory, an expandable memory slot, longer battery life on music, and pretty much everything the iPod has, except for one thing; iTunes. While it’s not ALL about iTunes, it does make it a bit of a harder sell. Now that I’ve moved to mac, iTunes has become my hub for music, video, and podcasts. Not necessarily because I purchase songs online (I usually prefer a physical format), but because everything is already in there, and instead of pressing sync, I’d have to drag everything into the folder on the desktop. If I was going to get one of the two, I’d probably choose the Zen, but I’m also wondering what everyone else thinks, so give me a comment, and tell me what you’d use.

So, we’ve all heard about the 3 red lights of death, and the whole thing about how the Xbox 360 is incredibly unreliable. Heck, maybe it happened to you once or twice, but not for me! No it has not happened once! It has happened FOUR TIMES! And no, it’s not even giving me the lights, meaning that as soon as Microsoft gets it they’ll say, oh…It’s not broken…Yet, even if they do give me a “new” one, it’ll be one that they didn’t ship of the older, less reliable version. I guess that’s business with Microsoft. So finally, after four times, I’ve started to consider upgrading to an Elite, hoping that it will be better. But what I’m wondering is what you think, so please, leave a comment and tell me what you think.
PS - I haven’t called Microsoft yet, and I don’t know when I will, but the Scientists in the Bevans Extra Lucid Lab (BELL Labs) have calculated that the chance of me doing so soon is approximately 1.32 percent.
